Two years in, and I could not be more proud of what our MSCA DIGITAL network has built.

When we launched the Industrial Doctoral Network on Digital Finance in 2024, our ambition was clear: bring together the best minds from European universities and industry to tackle the hardest problems in digital finance. Today, 17 doctoral researchers are doing exactly that — embedded with partners across Europe, producing research that matters.

A few highlights from our journey so far:

📁 WP1 is building the foundations for a European Financial Data Space — collaborative learning methods and anomaly detection in high-frequency data 🤖 WP2 is deploying AI to real financial markets — reinforcement learning, automated trading, and NLP for trend prediction 🔍 WP3 is making AI decisions explainable and fair — critical for regulators and consumers alike ⛓️ WP4 is driving blockchain innovation — risk management tools and industry standards for DLT 🌱 WP5 is putting sustainability at the heart of finance — green credit scoring, sustainable investment tools, and agent-based modelling

From training weeks in Cluj, Kaunas, and Naples to research workshops in Bucharest and conferences in Paris, our network has become a true European community. And with publications like "Financial Crime in the Digital Era" (Springer), the research impact is tangible.

This is what Horizon Europe funding makes possible. This is what happens when academia and industry pull in the same direction.
