National Commitments#
Vietnam has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, announced at COP26. Key milestones include:
- 2030: Reduce emissions by 43.5% (with international support)
- 2035: Phase out coal power (per JETP)
- 2050: Carbon neutrality
Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP)#
In December 2022, Vietnam announced a $15.5 billion JETP with G7 nations and partners, the largest energy transition financing mobilization for a developing country. The partnership aims to:
- Accelerate renewable energy deployment
- Support just transition for coal communities
- Build capacity for green finance
